Criminal Investigation Division

The Criminal Investigation Division is Commanded by Lieutenant Chris Bragg.

The Criminal Investigation Division (CID) is tasked with investigating a variety of misdemeanor and felony crimes. CID Investigators have the knowledge, training, and equipment necessary to perform criminal investigations into crimes that include but are not limited to:

Assault , Threats, Sexual Assault, Forgery, Kidnapping, Theft, Child Abuse, Identity Theft, Homicide, Fraud, Manslaughter, Money Laundering, Stalking, Retaliation, Robbery, Tampering, Burglary, False Reports, Criminal Mischief, Escape, Weapons Offenses, Hindering Apprehension, Sex Offender Offenses, Harassment, Narcotics, Animal Cruelty

With Some exceptions, it is usually the deputies that are assigned to our Patrol Division who initiate written reports of crimes. These reports are then turned over to the Criminal Investigation Division and assigned an investigator. Investigators are responsible for contacting and interviewing victims, witnesses, and suspects. Investigators are also responsible for processing crime scenes which include collecting, processing, and cataloging evidence and then submitting evidence to the State Crime Laboratory for analysis. It is not only the investigators responsibility to gather and report evidence in order to attempt to prove someones guilt, but also to gather and report evidence that would prove someones innocent of a crime as well.

If you have any questions, knowledge of a crime or information that would lead to a criminal offender, please contact Lieutenant Chris Bragg at 903-575-5608.
